Training and Mentorship Opportunity

Jumblies Theatre is accepting applications for its new training and mentorship program, the Jumblies Studio, in partnership with Davenport Perth Neighbourhood Centre (DPNC).

These positions will involve:

- 8 weeks of practical, professional training and mentorship with Jumblies on a half-time basis including:

- Orientation to and involvement in Jumblies ongoing projects and activities;

- Facilitating a 4 week mini-project workshop in a specific artistic discipline at DPNC (designed and implemented by the artist with support and supervision from Jumblies);

- Participating in a series of seminars offered by Jumblies;

- Access to artist mentors from within or outside of Jumblies; and

- Support for future plans and projects.

Support:

In this trial year there are no associated fees or charges. Interns can apply for bursaries of up to $2,000 each. For the mini-project Jumblies will also provide supplies, resources and a small budget for materials if needed. For out-of-town interns, we may be able to arrange affordable billets.

Who should apply?

- People with arts training and/or experience; their own arts practice; some background in community arts; and an interest in developing skills, self-sufficiency and a personal style and vision in the field;

- Artists from diverse cultural traditions and backgrounds;

- Artists from any discipline or cross-discipline;

- Artists interested in the approach and aesthetics of Jumblies Theatre.

Location: Locations of activities will vary. DPNC is at 1900 Davenport Rd. West of Lansdowne in Toronto. Jumblies is also running a project in Etobicoke (near Dundas and Islington) as well as connecting with other Toronto neighbourhoods.

How to apply: Send by e-mail a brief letter of interest addressed to info@jumbliestheatre.org, plus a current CV and a brief outline (no more than 2 pages) of an arts project you would like to do or an idea you would like to explore in a community-engaged setting. Time-Line: We will offer 2 or 3 positions between Jan. 08 and June 08.

N.B. - We are also interested in connecting with designers, choreographers, composers, theatre technicians/crafts-people and stage managers who are interested in this or other Jumblies Studio training/mentoring opportunities.
