Public Engagement and Fundraising Coordinator

CANADIAN PHYSICIANS FOR AID AND RELIEF (CPAR)

Position status: Full-time, 1 year contract (leave replacement)

Contract Dates: January 2 - December 26, 2008

CPAR is a Toronto based development organization that works with local partners and communities to build healthy communities and overcome poverty in Africa.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed individual to implement CPAR’s Public Engagement activities and select Fundraising files in 2008 as part of a leave replacement. This unique role is based in CPAR’s Toronto office and reports to the Director of Development while working closely with the Communications and Fundraising Manager. We are a small effective team that is committed to our cause.

This is an ideal situation for someone with a passion for international development who is in the early stages of their career and looking for an opportunity to expand their skills and experience.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Represent CPAR at medical and educational conferences
  • Represent CPAR at school workshops, speaking events and provide support for fundraising activities
  • Coordinate CPAR’s annual Study Tour including recruitment and budgeting
  • Implement registration and stewardship activities in support of the World Health Day Challenge fundraising event
  • Steward and solicit CPAR’s existing Foundation partners
  • Provide support to and liaise with CPAR’s Canadian Chapters

Qualifications:

  • 1-3 years experience in the non-profit sector.
  • Understanding of international development issues
  • University degree in a related field.
  • Strong writing skills and the ability to speak effectively in public
  • Ability to work cooperatively and independently in a small, dynamic organization.
  • Ability to build relationships with individuals and organizations
  • Ability to take direction, meet timelines and work under pressure
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel and Outlook
